Initial Ideas for our Audio Project

The project idea my group member and I came up with was to create an audio piece that focuses on listening. We chose to record the city of Lincoln in order to gain an authentic and original sound of the city. Afterwards decided to transform the recordings into an experimental sound narrative composed of the sounds that we have become naturally accustomed to in everyday life, that tend to be ignored. We wanted to tell a narrative through this sound piece of a normal persons auditory journey through the city of Lincoln.  We have taken inspiration from various sound artists including Jez Riley French, Susan Philipsz, Andrea Dancer and Hildegard Westerkamp. Some of these people are freelance artists who show their work at exhibitions, and others work for institutions which allow them to teach and share their knowledge.
